It's
always a great day for golf and Saturday at Sunrise Country Club
couldn't have been better.The course's advertising says it's "A
Northern style course with Southern hospitality." I found the staff
to be exeptionally friendly, helpful and FUN! Over and above
Southern Hospitality!
We were
paired up with a very nice couple from Cologne (thank you Hans and
Beatrix for your patience). It's tough playing with really good
golfers who take the game seriously when we are out to practice for
the scramble and fun. Sorry for the delays!
The
greens on the course were completely renovated and redesigned by
noted architect Charles Ankrom a few years ago. However,
the local golfers fail to fill or replace divots making the fairways
look like minefields (do you know where the
sand is?) There is one lake and one canal that come into
play on some holes. The most distinctive feature on this course is
its northern style with many trees.(However, as with a lot of our
course, they lost quite a few in the storms).
Give this course a try, it's just a hop, skip and a
jump from the turnpike!
